Retirement is an important decision that must happen at the right time for a sportsperson. While you must look at your personal matters before taking the decision, in a team sport, a player must also consider the impact his retirement can have on his squad and then take the judgment.

In 2020, we saw some prominent cricketers such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina hang up their boots. 1. Ashoke Dinda

Ashoke Dinda is one of the domestic star player of the game in India. Although his career did not take off with the Indian Team as so long, Dinda was a competitor across  all formats in the domestic competitions. 2. Naman Ojha


At point of time, it was only option two option in indian side MS Dhoni and Naman Ojha who were the options in the wicket-keeping department for Team India. That really shows how far Naman had gone in his career. But MS Dhoni captured the placed strongly in team India.The Madhya Pradesh player also announced his retirement in 2021. A career that got the push through IPL, Naman made waves in the domestic circuit before earning the India Cap. He did not have a great time but yet, his career did not see a drop in the domestic competitions. Meanwhile, there were a few decent IPL seasons that was always keeping him in the picture.but he didn't shine in India side.

3. R Vinay Kumar



At the age of 37, R Vinay Kumar from Karnataka also declared his retirement through twitter. V Kumar did exceedingly well in Ranji Trophy and IPL to get a call-up to the national side.but once he is class bowler in domestic side.However, his time in India colours was not completely blissful. Nevertheless, he came back to Ranji Trophy and kept on producing those starring performances. Under his leadership, he captained Karnataka won the ‘treble’ twice, probably the underlined of his career. V Kumar also won a couple of IPL titles and has a added trophy tally

4. Yusuf Pathan 

Y Pathan is an Memorable name in Indian Cricket. He was probably the first player who belonged entirely to the breed of T20 cricketers. A two time World Cup winner, Yusuf has plenty of unforgettable performances to his career. And he added the name in fastest century in ipl in earliest time, the man from Baroda can be satisfied with his achievements. Not only with the bat and with also ball. It made him a allround complete cricket and someone who could be tasked many difficult situation in death overs. He is one of best all-rounder of Indian side.

5. Wesley Barresi

Wesley Barresi concluded to retire from the cricket in Feb 2021. Although many of them know him, Barresi was actually an top class batting line-up of the Netherlands for a 2 years. He is from south Africa, Barresi made the switch to the Netherlands to create opportunities for him . With the sub nation, he brings many victories to his side, especially in Test Cricket

6.Upul Tharanga

7.Shehan Jayasuriya

A player who represented Sri Lanka .Minimum appreance in the side  (ODIs and T20Is), S Jayasuriya surprised everyone with his decision to retire from the game in young age . He is just 29 years old and could haven't  make more opportunities in srilankan side. The reason behind this decision is Shehan’s relocation to USA. He could be planning to take up cricket there.

Sri Lankan pacer Dhammika Prasad also announced his retirement few days ago. 37 years old, Dhammika played in all the formats for the Island Nation. A consistent performer once, a shoulder injury deterred the packer’s career.
